The writer makes each character unique by his/her actions and how they speak. For instance, Jack states that he is a doctor and you can tell that he is a leader. Kate is hesitant to stitch up the wound but decides to do it anyway. This shows that she is a caring person who can face her fears. Hurley is a guy who may be scared. He talks like someone from California. Boone seems to be a people pleaser by the way he asks which pens are best. He also is looking for a signal on his phone. This could be that he is a businessman or family man, trying to get a hold of his family.
