Concept 40 #2
At school, there is a lot of people I see that have potential to succeed. I think what holds them back is the lack of drive. I don't have any confidence in themselves academically so they don't really try. Maybe if they actually thought about the future, then they could see that they would be better off with an education.

Concept 39 #1-3
1. I am most afraid of the unknown, dying. On order for me to face that fear I would be in a situation that involved my family.
2. What I am really nervous about is speaking out loud and being put on the spot. This is currently holding me back.
3. The hero of my film is afraid of her husband because he is abusive and threatening. She will finally find the courage somehow and overcome this fear and finally leave him.

Concept 38 #1 & 3
1. There is a situation in which I get into arguments with my moms boyfriend because we have conflicting personalities. For instance, I am hard headed and so is he so we get into arguments all the time.
3. Hero- caring, scared, unsure/not confident
Villain- mean, strong, dominant
They seem to make the perfect personalities that seem to fit. But they actually but heads.

Critique of 2 Scripts
#1 characters: 3
entertainment value: 2
use of nonlinear: 2
#2 characters: 2
entertainment value: 2
use of nonlinear: 3
Concept 37 #1&3
1. One movie the completely shocked me at the end is Memento. The nonlinear structure is used in this film to make it more interesting and least likely to guess the ending. Another movie that surprised me in the end is Drive. The film maker makes it seem like the main character is undefeatable. And at the ending, he dies. The last movie that had a surprising ending was Scream 4. It made it seem like Jill was the innocent when in fact she was the killer.
3. I have never played a trick on someone and I seriously doubt that I could do it to an audience. Maybe..

Concept 36 #3
If the character is lonely, then they could adopt a kid, maybe there is a glitch in the system and the kid goes to another family.
If the character needs money, maybe they can get a job but then get fired.
If the character the character plays the lottery and ends up winning but then the taxes take 90% of the money.

Concept 35
1. Norma Rae- 8
It's a Wonderful Life- 7
Harry Potter- 10
Star Wars- 6
Dave- 6
Joan of Arc- 9
Robin Hood- 7
The Client- 8
Silkwood- 9
Spy Game- 6
2. I think that Harry Potter was my 10. It's because he has to go through a lot, I mean 8 sequels are enough. He has to face different problems with each. If I was in his predicament I would probably make the same decisions as he did to save the wizard world.
3. The last time I took a risk was buying a lottery ticket. It was for both myself and others, the consequence of my action was that I lost a dollar. The final outcome was not satisfying because I didn't win. It was a waste of money and time.

Quickwrite
I have seen the movie Vantage Point. It is about the "President" getting shot. It is nonlinear because they show the same event over and over again, with different perspectives, each time revealing more and more information and details. The perspectives are different because each point of view shows information not revealed before. It's uncertain what happens next until you see the next point of view.

Concept 34 #2
If I could posses any superhero power I think it would be to fly. If a villain had these powers, The superhero would have to have the same powers to defeat them: they have to be able to fly to stop the villain.

Concept 32
For a 30 second commercial, I would show an earthquake hitting a family at night. Everyone is woken up in their sleep and run out of their house to see the roof crumbling down. All their goods and treasures are torn away.

Concept 31
1. A. In time- the incident that I inciting is that Justin timberlake wakes up to find out her was given over a century.
B. 50/50- the inciting incident in this movie is that the main character is diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.
C. Tower heist- the incident in this one is that the guy who seems innocent takes the money of all the innocent staff and they have no retirement money.
2. 1. Maybe I would get beaten up or maybe I win the fight and everyone looks up to me as a hero. 2. Maybe the wheelchair kid would admire me for sticking up for him. Maybe he might watch where hes going next time. 3. My peers would admire me and actually get sone confidence to stand up for theirselves and the disadvantaged around them. 4. The bad bunch may be taught a lesson, maybe even learn no to pick on people, especially the disadvantaged.
3. The inciting incident in the film that I want to write is the marriage as it once was, when the couple was young and happy. Now times have changed and the marriage is going down the drain.

Concept 30
1. Kelly- a. Kellys main objective is to impress her friends and be in the cool crowd.
B. Her second objective is to hang out with her lame cousin in order to make her mom happy.
The mom- a. To make her daughter and niece bond as cousins.
B. Leave het daughter alone and hang out with her niece.
The cousin- a. Spend her Summer trying to be cool with her cousin and spend some quality time with her.
B. Try something new by visiting some family.
2. 1) win win- Kelly gives her cousin a make over and they bond and become popular.
2) no win, no win- Kelly gets rejected by the cool kids and hates her cousin and doesn't want to see her.
3) lose win- Kelly gets rejected by the cool kids but gains a strong relationship with her cousin.
3. For the film that I want to write, the primary conflict would be with the divorce and how life is as an unhappy married couple, the second conflict I'm still unsure about.

DAVID
Comon guys, lets get this place cleaned up.
Richielle
(burps)
Why? The party's not done yet!
David
It's over now lets clean up, my parents are on their way home!
David, Sally, and the rest of the teen clean the house up, picking up beer cans and trash.
Davids phone beeps as he receives a text from his mom.
David
Hurry up! They're five minutes away!
Intercut.
Davids mom
The car drive was way too long, I can't wait to het home and rest.
Davids dad
It wasn't that bad, you weren't the one driving.
The parent gets home and walk in the house to find the house spic and span.

Concept 28 #3
On my last birthday I would want to spend the day with my family and friends. Maybe then I could see family o haven't seen in a decade. I would just want to have fun. Buying things wouldn't make me happy for the reason being that I would have no tine to enjoy those things. So yeah on my last birthday I would just want to spend the day with my family and some friends, maybe even throw a party.

Concept 27
1. I think that Thatcher should ask Linda the question over lunch at her favorite place. This would allow him to have an actual conversation with her and maybe his chances of her saying yes will be increased. As they converse, Linda won't feel as much as him using her, but maybe she could feel that they are friends. She would of course say yes.
2. I am sitting in class right now at my desk. My skit would be that we would we are doing our work, some people are on facebook, while others are on tumbler. Just an everyday thing; people talking in their usual groups.
3. The story that I want to write would be about a marriage in decline. They have a kid and the story would make its way to how they were when they were dating- so happy and in love. Now the reality is how unhappy the couple is. The locations that I would use is the house, and maybe some outing places, I'm still unsure.

Homework 11/14
Format: 3
Conflict: 3
Characters: 3
I really thought that the conflict was interesting. It's something that hasn't been done very often. The main character is three-dimensional. The only thing I can say about her is that her name is kind of manly.
Pilot Script #2
Format: 1
Conflict: 2
Characters: 2
I think that there is nothing really exciting about the script. The characters are kind of two-dimensional and have nothing really special about them. The format and punctuation is completely off.

Pilot Critique #2
I thought that the story was okay. I don't know how the conflict is going to evolve over the next episodes because it's like the conflict was already addressed in on show. The slang and drug use seemed a bit ghetto, but overall it was good.
Format: 3
Characters: 2
Conflict: 2
Concept 25 #2
Log lines:
1. A woman jealous of her sister and kills her because she married the man she liked.
2. Two brothers fighting in the civil war on opposite sides, they come face to face.
3. A teacher turns out to be a serial killer.
4. A rich and spoiled brat stranded on a island needs to adapt to survive.
5. A pro athlete becoming handicap.

Pilot critique #1
I think that the story has a good storyline. I like how the mom gets into a car accident, it's unexpected. There were some grammatical and punctuational errors and unnecessary cursing.
Format: 3
Unique/interesting characters: 2
Entertaining story/conflict: 3

Lost Pilot
The writer makes each character unique by his/her actions and how they speak. For instance, Jack states that he is a doctor and you can tell that he is a leader. Kate is hesitant to stitch up the wound but decides to do it anyway. This shows that she is a caring person who can face her fears. Hurley is a guy who may be scared. He talks like someone from California. Boone seems to be a people pleaser by the way he asks which pens are best. He also is looking for a signal on his phone. This could be that he is a businessman or family man, trying to get a hold of his family.
Concept 24 #3
So upon watching Drive I thought that the ending would for sure be that the main character (who doesn't have a name) gets revenge and ends up with the millions of dollars. To my surprise, I found out that this was not the case. He gets revenge but ends up dying. It was a twist that I wasn't expecting. This could be developed in a "high concept" because no one really expects the main character to die and it's surprising.

Concept 23 #3
The story that I want to write is about the life of an average high school teenager. The governing objective behind the main characters is to actually face what life has to store. All the trials that high school offers. She basically will simply just live life.
Tuesday, October 25, 2011
Desperate Housewives Pilot
1. The three main characters are Mary Alice, Lynette, and Gabrielle. They are introduced in a unique way because they are all brought in from a flashback from the past.
2. The conflict may be that they might try to find out why she killed herself and what exactly happened. Also, there is a conflict between Gabrielle and Carlos. Another conflict can be with Lynette might be trying to go back to work.
3. The writing is really descriptive, it provides good details. All the characters talk differently. They have different tones and personalities. The use of dialogue advance the story because it makes it more realistic and everyone has their own personalities.
Concept 22 #3
I think the film that I want to write is more character-driven. It is character-driven because we basically show the main character (Jessica) going through her day, with all the trials that she faces everyday. There really is no plot in a way, it just goes through a day by day of Jessica's life.
Monday, October 24, 2011
Pilot Reflection
What makes our characters unique is that they are average teenagers. They're not popular or geeky, or even rebellious. Our main conflict in the pilot is the family conflict. The parents fight everyday but try to be discreet about it. Also, the main character's friends talk behind her back and don't really like her. But she has no idea. The resolution is when she over hears her parents fighting then saying that they are going to go to marriage counseling.
Tuesday, October 18, 2011
Concept 20 #1
In our episode, we would relate to the views in many aspects. For instance, our main character is an average teenager who goes through trials that all of go have gone through, or will later on. She would get bad grades on tests, home problems, ect.
Thursday, October 13, 2011
Concept 19 #2
If I was only allowed to chose one premise and one character to work with, I think that I would go with Bonnie and show her point of view. Maybe she was caught between the two guys and didn't know who to chose. It would take place in a school hallway, where you can see the lockers.
Wednesday, October 12, 2011
Concept 18 #1
With the people depicted in the picture, I think I would make the story as a third person. Maybe even in the dogs point of view. Maybe he was raised by this guy, who is now going to fight in a war. It could show the opinion of the dad sitting next to him. The dog could basically be there in every scene and could show what is going on.
Thursday, October 6, 2011
Concept 16 #3
The target audience for the movie that we are making is teenagers. Our main characters are teenagers in high school. We think that teenagers can relate to the teenagers in the show. They can see how high school is and can relate to cliques and peer pressure. Our main characters are mostly everyday teens. Goody goody ones. People can relate to what kind of people these are- geeks.

Beats and clothespin
1. The flyer falls down a wall and blows into one of the character.
2. Lindsey's parents say that she can't go to the concert.
3. Lindsey is going to go anyways, trying to impress her friends.
4. She is at the concert, there is no going back now.
5. Sam is there too!
6 & 7- still under construction.
Concept 15 #3
The theme of our episode is to not be afraid to get out and do something that you wouldn't normally do cause you might miss out and a great experience. We chose this theme because it seems like something not many people do. Our episode is all about rebellion so it will reinforce our episode.

Citizen Kane-Non-Linear Movies
I thought that the non-linear structure of Citizen Kane was interesting. It makes it more interesting in a way that you don't get just one view of the character. It allows the movie the be more suspenseful and dynamic. What I didn't really like about it is that in some parts it was confusing and somewhat boring. There wasn't a lot of action or drama. I do no agree with the assessment that Citizen Kane is the greatest movie of all time. I think that it was good in terms of when it was made and what techniques and camera work for being such an old movie.

Charles Foster Kane
What I know about Charles Foster Kane so far is that he is this rich guy. He was married twice and divorced twice. His first wife and his son were killed in a car accident. He owns the biggest house that it wasn't even finished yet. He owns a zoo and a newspaper company.

Freaks and Geeks Reflection
Out of the four episodes that we watched, my favorite episode so far is the last one, Kim Kelly is my friend. I think that it was the most funniest one. It actually made me laugh and I really enjoyed it. It had the most drama in it and it was really funny.

Exposition Revision
Lindsey is sneaking out of the window, while Sam is walking out of the door to go on his date. Her foot gets stuck. She struggles to release it. She finally gets it out but falls on a bush below her window with a loud THUD. This catches Sam's attention.
Sam
What are you doing?
Lindsey
What does it look like? I'm trying to go to the concert.
Sam
Oh okay, well see you late-
Lindsey
Wait, where are you going?
Sam
Uhhm.. to Bill's house.
Lindsey
(suspiciously)
Right...
Lindsey gets up runs to the awaiting car.
Dialogue Practice
Sam- polite and seems unsure
Neal- Uses high vocab and references to 70's tv shows
Bill- says random comments
Millie- Smart goody goody
Kim- Rude
Karen- Rude and curses
Daniel- jokes about sex
Nick- also jokes about sex but is courteous towards Lindsey
Lindsey- nice

- Steve- Wrote the x-files episode, worked on sliders
- Javier- Master in screenwriting, also wrote and x-files episode
Antz Movie Script
In the script that I read, I found V.O. (voice over). I also saw INT. MOTIVATIONAL COUNSELLOR'S OFFICE - DAY, INT. EARLY MEGA-TUNNEL - DAY, INT. TOWN CENTER - DAY.
I also saw O.S. (offscreen) when princess Bala is called by someone offscreen. I also see INT. BALA'S QUARTERS - DAY. INT. ANT BAR - NIGHT

Script Revision
This is part of my script that can use less description:
"The 9 year old kids walk to the park with their heads down. Disappointed in themselves. The go to a local park where they could swing and think through their next move."
This is how it would be revised:
"The 9 year olds walk to the park with their heads down. They go to a local park where they could think through their next move."

Freaks and Geeks Questions
1. I know that Lindsey has an identity crisis. She wants to do the right thing but also wants to be cool at the same time.
2. The major plots from the Halloween episode is when Lindsey ditches her mom and when Sam knows that he is too old to trick-or-treat but does it anyways.
3. They all come together at the end when Lindsey eggs Sam and feels really bad. She goes home, due to this and helps her mom pass out candy. Sam also gets all his candy jacked.
Concept 10
1. The subject that I think I know well is supporting child development. I took a course and have a certificate from that. I could use this to make a film about kids because I know how they learn.
2. If I am writing about a subject that I have no idea about, I could go
a) home- books and internet
b) library- books and novels on the subject. Internet- documents online.
c) community- people or neighbor who might know something about the subject.
3. I know absolutely nothing about guitars. The class that I would take would probably be a music class and I would just interview some musicians and bands to get more information on the topic.

Concept 9 #1
The top 3 films of all time are Avatar, Titanic, and The Dark Knight. My film would be about Batman and he would in the world of the avatars, with the blue and his conflict would be that he is in love with Rose, from the Titanic. The story is that he is trying to be with the girl of his dream but he but he has all the challenges in front of him. For instance, all the blue avatar warriors are trying to kill him and kidnaps Rose. I don't think anyone would like my film because even I don't like it.
Friday, September 9, 2011
Concept 8 #1 and 3
1. My scene with Reese Witherspoon and Orlando Bloom would be set before the football game. Orlando would be a football player and Reese would be his cheerleading girlfriend. They would be talking and maybe at a pep rally.
3. There is a nanny who was driving one night. She is drunk but decided to take the kid she was watching with her to get some doughnuts. She crashes and ends up killing the kid. She goes to prison for the murder of the kid.

Freaks and Geeks Scene
INT. SCHOOL CAFETERIA- LUNCH TIME
Lindsey just saved Sam from getting beat up. They meet in the cafeteria. Linsey is standing there alone. Sam approaches her.
SAM
Hey Lindsey
LINDSEY
(surprised)
Oh hey Sam, where's your friends?
SAM
Umm.. they're waiting for me over there.
Sam points to the spot where his friends are awkwardly standing.
SAM
Anyways, I just wanted to thank you for saving my butt. I appreciate it.
LINDSEY
(smiles)
Anytime little bro.
Sam walks off towards his friends. Lindsey, on the other hand, spots Daniel, and approaches him.

Concept 7 #1 and 2
1. A) Single day- Romeo and Juliet
B) Week- Man of fire
C) Months- Anger Management
D) Curious case of Benjamin Button
2. The amount of real time that takes place in my short story is about 4 hours total.
Short Script Reflection
I think that my best scene is when the kids go to the park. I feel that it is my best because it describes everything that is going on. And the last scene as well. The children spend their whole day trying to go swimming and when they finally get there, Ernie pees in the pool. I think that this is one of the best scenes because it is funny. My worst scene was when they drink a bunch of water. It was a bad idea but played a role in the story. I think, to improve my script, I could rewrite it a couple of times with some constructive criticism.
Friday, September 2, 2011
Concept 6
1. There was 2 characters, a mother and a son. There are two different locations. The problem was that the son wanted to go out the house like his mom, but she kept telling him no. The solution is that the son sneaks out early in the morning and ends up killing himself. I didn't like that it was a sad sorry and that it was in another language. I did like the story line though.
2. I think there is enough substance in the film to make it into a movie. It could show how the world got to be like that and lots of other details as well.
3. I like anger management and the scene that I would select to be a short would be the part where Adam Sandler goes to see his bully from when he was young. He confront him and everything. Beginning- Him getting bullied as a kid. Conflict- He wasn't sorry and kept making fun of him. End- He beats up his now monk bully and runs away.
