The technique in which I would use to introduce a flashback scene is maybe having whichever actress that is playing her to be in a old folks home. Then she could be telling her story and as she did that, it would switch to that scene. It would be narrated of course and b-rolling the flashback. I think that it would be a nice touch to add that the flashbacks are in black and white. It would be a great effect, demonstrating that it was a flashback and happened a while ago.
